Dear Student,
My name is Corantin, and I would like to share my experience as an exchange student in Canada.
I arrived in Canada, Windsor on August 27, 2025, feeling both excited and nervous. Leaving everything familiar behind was a big step for me.
The beginning wasn’t always easy. Adapting to a new country, a different culture, and speaking English every day took time. But don’t be afraid to ask for help—your host family, friends, teachers, and coordinators are there to support you. Quicker than you could imagine, Canada will start to feel like home.
I was lucky to have an amazing host family and two host brothers, who made my exchange even more special. They became like real brothers to me, they introduced me to their friends and a lot of new people as soon as I arrived. So I really encourage you to try to get host siblings in your future adventure. I also had the opportunity to continue practicing my sport; track and field, which helped me meet new people when staying connected to something I enjoy doing.
At school, I discovered new subjects, a different way of learning, less hours more focusing on sports. This experience taught me not only about Canada but also about myself. I became more independent, more confident, and much more open-minded.
When I left on June 29, 2026, saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It made me realize how much this experience had changed me and how many incredible people I had met along the way.
If you’re thinking about going on an exchange, I can only encourage you to do it. It won’t always be easy, but it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. You’ll make unforgettable memories, build lifelong friendships, and come home with a new mind about yourself.
Enjoy every moment, say yes to new opportunities, and make the most of this amazing adventure. It might become the best year of your life.
Corantin
