Can it truly be that we are already past the mid-way point of this incredible journey?
Semester 1 has finished, students completed their first four subjects and have now started their next four, with mid-terms coming up soon!
Students were able this year to experience a “true Canadian winter”, thanks to the La Niña effect that swept across our nation, bringing much snow and many opportunities to get outside, be active and try something new. Students also experienced their winter break / Christmas in Canada as well as Valentine’s Day and the Family Day long weekend in February. We asked students in a recent survey to share some thoughts on winter activities they’ve tried for the first time as well as some photos, which we happily share with you below.
A fun activity that the student and host family have done together:
Top activities include:
- Baking and cooking, generally or for Christmas
- Skating
- Skiing/Snowboarding or Tobogganing (sledding)
- Going to the cinema
- Hiking
- Travelling together – to places in Ontario like Toronto and Ottawa and even to the US
- Seeing sporting events like a hockey game or baseball game
- Having a campfire
- Celebrating holidays including Thanksgiving or Christmas
- Going to local festivals
